Meher Ramesh

Meher Ramesh is a film writer and director. He is the cousin of actor mega star-chiranjeevi.

Background

Meher Ramesh worked as an assistant director for many movies, including Pokkiri. He became a protégé of Tollywood director/producer Puri Jagannadh.

His directorial debut, Veera Kannadiga, released on 1 January 2004 simultaneously with Andhrawala. After this successful debut, he directed Ajay (2006), a Kannada movie starring Puneet Rajkumar and Anuradha Mehta. This film was a remake of the Tollywood blockbuster Okkadu, which starred Mahesh Babu and was directed by Gunasekhar.

His first film in Tollywood was Kantri (2008) starring Jr. NTR, Hansika Motwani, Tanisha Mukherjee, and Prakash Raj. The movie was produced under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner by C. Ashwini Dutt. The music of the film was launched on 29 March 2008 and the film was released on 9 May 2008.

His 2009 film Billa was a remake of the Tamil film Billa (2007). It also drew inspiration from the 1979 Telugu film Yugandhar, which in turn drew inspiration from another Hindi film titledDon. Prabhas Raju Uppalapati played the dual role of the characters Billa and Ranga, with Anushka Shetty and Namitha playing the heroines. The film, which began shooting in October 2008, released in April 2009. Actress Jayasudha, who had earlier starred in Yugandhar (1979) as Jaya, had a guest role as Janaki in this film. Billa was a big commercial success in 2009.

Mani Sharma has composed the music for every movie directed by Meher Ramesh.

His upcoming movie Shakti, starring NTR Jr. and Ileana D’Cruz, is being produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. Mani Sharma is composing the music and Sameer Reddy is the cinematographer.
