A.Karunakaran

A Karunakaran (Born: 1961) is a Telugu film director.

Background

Before entering Telugu Film Industry, his parents forced him to join polytechnics. After finishing polytechnics in 1989, he went to Madras. He became an assistant director to a few successful directors like Shankar.

Career

Karunakaran’s first directorial film in 1998 was Tholi Prema was a sensational hit. That film enhanced Pawan Kalyan’s image as an actor. His subsequent films Yuvakudu, and Balu ABCDEFG disappointed at box office. Though they failed at box office, the way he presents the movie is superb. His next film Happy was a moderate success.His recent movie darling is declared hit as it completed 100 days in 35 centers. In his films heroines are given importance and are not shown in vulgar manner unlike many directors. This is really appreciated by Class Audience. He gives much importance to his story & screenplay rather than skin-show. He made a cameo appearance in the movie Tholi Prema.
